A drive-thru barn
On Cash Mountain Road northwest of Glen Rose AR, you'll find a drive-thru barn. It straddles the driveway to the home of Glenn Squires and his family. He agreed to let me shoot the barn for which I am grateful. I am also grateful to my-friend-upon-whom-I've-never-laid-eyes, Fred Garcia, who found and photographed the barn first. I had been on Cash Mountain Road before, but had not followed it as far as he did. See the stories that go with the pictures at Corndancer dot-com and Weekly Grist for the Eyes and Mind.

-
Yes, the drive way goes through the barn. Glenn Squires says giving directions to his home is not a problem.

What you see when you turn in to the Squires drive way.
-
If you look at the barn from a different angle, it has the appearance of a garden-variety old barn.

Inside out, looking at Cash Mountain Road.
-
Former owners carved initials in the wall, dated 1931.
-
These angled door latches were a new twist I'd not seen before. The tool marks show they were made by hand.

A side view of the latches showing how the carpenter paid attention to detail.

Bilaterally symetrical door latches.

What you see when you turn right off Cash Mountain Road.

Glenn Squires' yellow lab sits patiently by as neighbor Linda Hankins' Boston Terrier relieves himself at the corner.
-
I saw this on Reynolds Creek Road west of US Highway 67 north of Malvern AR. I was puzzled as to exactly what it was.
-
Turns out, it is a pole gate to what appears to be a country junk-yard.
-
No junk-yard is complete without a junk-yard dog. If he was there, he registered no complaint at my presence.
-
A big ol' barn at the junction of Old Military Road and Gourd Neck Valley Road. It was badly back lit, so I "doctored" it. A bunch.
-
This old barn is on the west side of US Highway 67, south of Glenn Rose AR.
-
The south end of the barn.
-
Guess what the polticial affiliation is for this tree.
-
There's a story here, which remains to be revealed.

This ultra-light was crusing over my home territory on the way home from this trip. Lucky shot with a Nikon P7000 Coolpix, my "pocket Kodak."
