The past off the beaten path
his gallery leads off with images of a still-standing-but-needing-life-support plantation house north of Lakeview, Arkansas, off Arkansas Highway 44. I was alerted to the old house by Bishop Chester Thompson of the Zion Hill Church in Camden, Arkansas. He sent me some pictures he shot of the old house and it whetted my appetite. I shot the other pictures on the round trip, sort of meandering through the Delta. Again. See the stories that go with the Delta pictures at Corndancer dot-com and Weekly Grist for the Eyes and Mind.

This old plantation house sits on well-tended church grounds. Unfortunately, I could find no details on the structure. It is probably an early 20th century sharecropper house and would have been one of many.

The old tree and the old house were made for each other.

A wider view with the adjacent church and my well-worn pickup, now showing 248,000 miles.
