Home territory barns
ver the years, I have fielded a number of photo requests from friends to capture two barns familiar to L.A. motorists. One is south of Pine Bluff on U.S. Highway 63 (formerly Arkansas State Highway 15). The other, on it's last legs, sits aside I-530 close to its junction with U.S. Highway 65. This weekend was the weekend to do both. While I was at it, I grabbed a couple of other barns, both in plain view, but on less travelled roads. This gallery shows you are seven barn pictures, and one surprise. See the stories that go with the pictures at Corndancer dot-com and Weekly Grist for the Eyes and Mind.

Thousands of motorist blast past this old barn on I-530 near the U.S. 65 junction in Pine Bluff. This is my most requested shot. Now I have done it.

This old barn is on the west side of U.S. Highway 63, just south of the Highway 63 Fire Department.

This old barn is on Mount Harmony Church road, west of the Highway 63 barn.

Further down Mount Harmony Church Road is this leaner. Probably a victim of prevailing winds. It is hanging in there.

When I arrived at the Highway 63 barn site, a bevy of birds were parked on the pasture gate. This was the most intriguing of the bunch. I'm guessing it is an immature Purple Martin, but don't get me to lyin.'
