An old, old home, an old barn, young pups, and two near misses
A trip I feared would be fruitless did a 180 in a few miles. I found an old barn, and an old home complete with puppies and an owner to tell me about the old residence. Sometimes you just get lucky. See the stories that go with these pictures at the Corndancer dot-com Photo of the Week page and Weekly Grist for the Eyes and Mind.

I found this old barn on
Cash Mountain Road, northwest of Glen Rose, Arkansas. No one was home at the residence so the only thing I can say is what you see is what you get.
-
Same barn. Slightly different view.

The old Garner Place off Arkansas Highway 128, aka
"The Lonsdale Cutoff." This home was first occupied around 1901.
-
Close up of where the porch was. It was badly deteroriated and the family is looking for old lumber to rebuild it and maintain the characater of the historic structure.

Front-side view including the gnarled old tree and native stone chimney.

Side view.

Rear quarter view. The old home shows evidence of additions.

This drive goes to a family residence on the property.

Front view from the other side.

Porch area and chimney detail.

The resilient old tree.

The resident family dog had puppies. She moved her babies from the new house to the old one. Smart dog. You can crawl under this one.

Another member of the litter.

Siblings pose after some initial trepidation.

The tomb of the late Robert "Bob" Garner, owner of the property and grandson of the original homesteaders. Recent Arkansas storms toppled a tree on the masoleum, but it survived nicely.
-
Perhaps the same storm which attacked the previous grave site knocked down this church cemetery tree south of England, Arkansas. Also a near miss.

A new record for narrow bridges. Tight ain't it?
